Moraine Valley's Automotive Technology Programs offer the hands-on training you need to diagnose and repair today's vehicles.  Our program is Master Automobile Service Technology (MAST) certified by the ASE Education Foundation. The ASE Education is a nationally recognized accrediting organization and division of National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

This program allows you to work with ASE-certified instructors who incorporate a wealth of real-world experience into the classroom and lab. Faculty members are dedicated to helping students reach their career goals. Our faculty members strive to make the learning experience practical and rewarding. Our goal is to help prepare our students and graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in the automotive repair industry.

The college offers two Associate in Applied Science programs related to automotive technology: Automotive Technology A.A.S. and Automotive Technology A.A.S. with Mopar MCAP Option.

The college offers MCAP, a full-time apprenticeship program with a similar course structure as the college's general automotive A.A.S. degree program. The difference with MCAP is that it focuses on course information and hands-on activities using Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep and Ram products and procedures. As a student, you'll also work at an approved Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep and Ram dealer or Chrysler fleet location as an entry-level technician during the internship period. Students completing the A.A.S. degree with the MCAP option also will receive a certificate from the Chrysler Group.

Moraine Valley also offers the Nissan Technician Training Academy (NTTA), which is designed for students who wish focuses on course information and hands-on training on Nissan and/or Infiniti vehicles to prepare themselves for working inside a Nissan or Infiniti dealership.

Students interested in automotive technology will be interested to know that salaries in the Chicagoland area tend to be higher than the national averages listed by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

 

The A.A.S. degree opens many door and great earnings potential in the automotive repair industry and many related repair industries, too.

We have degree agreements with Southern Illinois University and Ferris State University. Moraine Valley Automotive Technology A.A.S. degree graduates can complete two more years at either Southern Illinois University or Ferris State University to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Automotive Technology.

Employment of automotive service technicians and mechanics is projected to grow 1% from 2021 to 2031. Job opportunities for qualified jobseekers should be very good.

This program prepares the student for an entry-level position in the automotive service industry.

This program provides the student with the entry-level skills needed to become an automotive technician. The program develops the necessary manipulative skills along with the theory of operation of various automotive systems. Along with developing necessary job skills, the student can use the certificate as a partial fulfillment of the requirements for the A.A.S. degree in automotive technology.

 

This program prepares the student for a career as an Automotive Service Advisor. Automotive service advisors work in new and used automobile dealerships and large automobile repair facilities. They greet customers, listen to customer concerns or service requests, determine the type of service required, provide customers with repair estimates, help produce repair orders, notify customers when repairs have been completed, and follow up with customers to help ensure customer satisfaction.

This certificate program is designed to enhance your A.A.S. Automotive degree and make you more marketable to prospective employers. Prepare for an entry-level position in the automotive service industry with a focus on automotive brake systems.
